Adoption Process

Please read this page thoroughly so that you understand the adoption process

Good Karma strives continuously to place our adoptable puppies in the best homes suited to their personalities and needs. The process may seem a bit daunting at first, but we hope that this better explains how the process works.

Application Process – You are required to submit your application online prior to the adoption event. Please attempt to give us as much time as possible prior to the Sunday adoption event in order to ensure enough time to thoroughly review your application. If we have any questions regarding your application we will contact you directly.

If you’ve been told to join us at the adoption event, please understand that this does NOT guarantee you will be able to adopt the puppy of your choosing. Good Karma does not charge application fees or deposits on puppies. Adoption is NOT first-come-first-served.

Applicants who have attended prior events and have completed both phases of the application process, but missed out on the puppy or litter of their choosing, will be provided priority adoption status for upcoming litters. These applicants, though, were fully approved and thus, are able to be given priority status.

Oftentimes, we will have many applicants for particular puppies. The adoption event begins at 1 p.m. and we encourage you to see the puppy you are interested in, interact with the puppy, and discuss any questions you may have about the puppy with the foster (who will be present).

Good Karma allows at least one hour once the event has started, for applicants to meet all the puppies.

The next phase of the application process, is that you will need to discuss your application in person with the Director and the foster. They will go over answers to your adoption application and get further clarification on the home environment, etc.

Again, because we do not charge up-front fees, there is no guarantee of getting to adopt the puppy of your choosing. Much depends upon the turn out to the event. Thus, we hope you are willing to be patient with us during this process. We will always strive to make the process as comfortable as possible.
